Porphyromonas Vaccine

No Description

A new vaccine for dogs has been developed by Pfizer Animal Health to help prevent bone destruction and tooth loss caused by periodontitis.  It is important to remember that this vaccine is another tool to be used in the fight against periodontal disease, the number one disease in pets.  It is to be used in conjunction with good home dental health care, such as brushing teeth, and regular professional dental exams and cleanings.  Administering the vaccine will not eliminate the need for regular dental cleanings.  Instead this vaccine will help stimulate immunity to the bacteria known to cause the most damage around the tooth root. This product has been conditionally licensed by the FDA until additional efficacy and potency studies that are time intensive have been completed.  Safety, however, has been established in trials involving more than 600 dogs.  For more information, please call our office.  One of our certified technicians or doctors would be happy to help you.
